This was my first book I read by Lucy Diamond I do believe.

The story is about Maddie, Jess and Lauren , three women on seperate walks of life who meet and bond over a weight-watching group. Though they meet at the group, they quickly become true friends.

Maddie works at a local radio station as a broadcast assistant for a not so nice "on air personality" Collette McMahon. Collette is one of those witches with a capital B and loves to make Maddie run all her menial errands like getting coffee, and basically anything to make Maddie feel like the pion she is instead of the capable and intelligent professional she is. Maddie's job was all of the behind the scenes prepping for the shows, all Collette basically had to do was show up and be on air.

One day however, Collette decides to not take all the work that Becky and Maddie have prepared and "wing" it. on Live Air and decides to announce to the world that she was starting a new campaign "Make Birmingham Beautiful" and announces that all the folks at the radio station will be taking a part and will be getting new beauty regimes. With a look of spite in her eyes, she announces all the lovely treatments that everyone will be getting... Then to Maddies complete horrification, she announces that for Maddie, whose trying to "Beat the bulge" she'll be going to try a FatBusters weight-watching class.

Beyond mortified and wanting the world to swallow her up, Maddie decides that she can't let Collette get the best of her. Maddie decides she will go to those Fat Busting classes and in doing so she finds two friends and fellow "bulge busters" in Jess & Lauren.

This was a really fun story and you get each of Jess, Maddie and Lauren's POV. Ms. Diamond truly outdid herself with this book. ITs' a fun story, but also has a strong element of friendship, romance and fighting back... This is truly a great book and it makes me want to search the earth for more Lucy Diamond books and devour them all.

I vaguely recall reading a Lucy Diamond (by the way that's not her real name, its Sue Mongredien) that's her book a while back, but couldn't remember. I therefore decided to buy her fourth book that was published Sweet Temptation and try another one. I was extremely pleased that I did and now I know why her name rang bells! This book is based around three women, Maddie, Lauren and Jess. All three of them meet once they commit to both losing weight and getting fit. What they don't realise is that the three of them will become such good friends that their lives will change because of it.

Maddie seemed to be the most central character, well at least for me she was. She was certainly the most memorable! Maddie has a husband, two kids and a job working for Brum FM. Although her job may sound glamorous, her boss is awful and with both her boss and her Mum pressuring her to lose weight she finally gives in. In addition to Maddie there is Jess who works in a beauty salon and is engaged to Charlie. All Jess wants is to lose a little weight for her big day. The last character is Lauren who is a bitter divorcee who runs her own dating agency.

The book drew me straight in and I adored Maddie and Jess. I liked Lauren but after around a quarter of the book she just seemed to pale in comparison to the other two. What I think made this book so readable is the basis for the story. Weight loss is something the majority of women have experience with. Lucy Diamond has told their stories in such a way that you can laugh, cry and most certainly empathise with all three women. It took me just over a day to read this book as I was so engrossed. The author has made the characters easy to like, easy to read and most of all an enjoyable experience.

I absolutely loved this book and found it an absolute joy to read. We had nice characters, awful characters (I swear I knew a woman like Jess' boss!) and great storytelling. What more could we ask for?
This is the second book of Lucy Diamond's that I've read; a book that I was excited to read based on the first book that I had read which was amazing. I found that this book as well was very well-written however, it didn't have the same affect on me as the first book did. I did enjoy the premise of this book though; three ladies joined a group called FatBusters to lose weight, and end up befriending one another, while sharing their trials and tribulations in regards to their relationships with men, their careers, and life in general. I loved the way in which each of the characters spoke with one another, and the good fortune that followed them as they began to take charge of their lives. It really spoke to me in a lot of ways however, I was hoping for more surprises, as I had received in the first book of Lucy's that I had read. Nevertheless, a great read; looking forward to more of her books!
A great read, telling the story of three unlikely "diet buddies" trying to lose weight for different reasons, and the stories of their lives. Believable, likeable characters, good storylines for each of them, and brought the whole thing together neatly. Will definitely be looking out for more from Lucy Diamond.
This is the first time I have read anything from this Author and it certainly won't be the last. For lovers of Jill Mansell, Catherine Alliot and Carole Matthews, this book is a must. For anyone slightly overweight give this book a try - I felt a lot better about myself after reading and the whole way through the book found myself rooting for the 3 main characters. I will definitely look for more books by Lucy Diamond.
